Spalted Maple & Walnut Side Table

The story behind this project started with a trip to the guy I buy wood slabs from. Didn't plan to buy anything, but when I saw this center cut spalted maple, I knew I had to have it. Then I moved it and saw it's twin underneath with the same rare markings because they were cut from the same tree. I had to talk the guy into selling them because he too fell in love with them. I decided to let the wood speak for itself and built a strong walnut base and used pipe as the main support. It has home made clamps under the table to allow any orientation. It can be a side table, small buffet table when needed, drink table for parties, etc. The main thing it will be is a one of a kind conversation piece for sure.
